HOW TO DESIGN AND PLANT A FAERIE GARDEN
To design and plant a garden for
Faeries begin by thinking small.You'll
need a small,sheltered,Faerie-size area
perhaps beneath a rose bush,or possibly a found object such as a basket to use for a Faerie garden in a container;a
selection of small plants attractive or useful to Faeries;and small ornaments
and treasures to tempt and please the
Faeries.

FLOWERS TO WELCOME THE FAERIES
Partial shade with dancing rays of sun and moomlight is the best lighting
for a Faerie garden,a spot beneath a
flowering rose bush or other fragrant
flowering shrub is perfect,especially if it is adorned with sweet peas.To roll
out the favorite Faerie carpet,be sure to plant fragrant thyme.Thymus is the variety of choice because it is very tiny.To make the Faeries feel at home right away,plant pansies and violas with their sweet little Faerie faces.

FLOWERS FOR FAERIE CLOTHES AND COMFORT
To help your Faeries dress well,cultivate foxgloves,granny's bonnets,bleeding hearts and lady's
slippers.Plant lamb's ear for a soft bed
along with Queen Anne's lace for lacy
sheets and a bit of thistle for filling soft,downy pillows.Lavender makes a lovely fragrant Faerie clothesline.

FLOWERS FOR FAERIES TO USE
Milkweed pods make darling cradles,
walnut shells make little boats for drifting across a puddle.Acorn shells serve as a generous Faerie bowls and bread seed poppy pods are perfect for a
soothing sip of tea.Four O'clocks help
them tell when it's time to play.

JEWELS AND TREASURES FOR THE GARDEN
Faerie gardens often include tiny treasures;jewels are especially popular with Faeries.Grow lady's mantle for dew-
drops that glisten like diamonds.Sparkling "Little Rubies" is a
tiny sized,flowering,ground covering plant perfect for a Faerie garden,es-
pecially if placed between tiny step stones or beneath a little Faerie size twig bench.

FLOWERS FOR PLAYFUL FAERIES
Faeries are infinitely playful and can be naughty if bored,so be sure to provide Faerie toys in your garden.
Faeries love to play the bells from the coral bell and lily of the valley plants.Snapdragon flowers are Faeire puppets and Faeries love to rearrange
tiny seashells or bits of colored beach glass.Butterflies,ladybugs and fire-
flies are perfect Faerie playmates.

SILVER AND GOLD IN THE FAERIE GARDEN
Faeries do love shiny things,so remember to grow silvery luneria or the
money plant.The Faeries will caress them and wear away the papery covering to reveal the iridescent silver coins for you.Also provide gold for your Faeries,a gold coin, perhaps a little gold charm or a piece of ribbon will do.

WATER FEATURE IN THE FAERIE GARDEN
Your Faerie garden must include water;a small,gently splashing water-
fall or a bubbling brook with water-cress is best,but a little shallow dish of clean water will do.Toadstools,
lichen and moss are good additions too.Finally,include a bit of mirror for good luck.
