Vintage Silent Butler with Cutter Quilt Hearts and Foliage Table Centerpiece Display

The silent butler, used to collect crumbs from the table or to empty ashtrays, is an image of days gone by where even the simplest of activities was given a little flair! I don't know the age of this gold-tinted metal silent butler but it appears to be from the late 1950's to early 1960's. Silent butlers were very popular especially during the 1950's. I have sewn two hearts from a vintage cutter quilt that was made in the "postage stamp" design: small squares around the same size sewn together in either a random or particular design. The quilt, too, appears to be from the same time period as the silent butler. Each heart is backed with muslin and has a rusty metal jingle bell in its center. The hearts are highlighted by some realistic faux ivy and some light green stems with sparkly "gem" flowers. The lid of the silent butler has a scene of a couple, a baby and a dog embossed in it. The display measures approximately 8" to the tip of the silent butler handle and 5" to the top of the lid. Nostalgia at its best!!
